Community Garden

In the Spring of 2009, Solor began an exciting new mission…

The Community Garden

Solor's Community Garden - Spring 2010 before planting

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.  ~Proverbs 22:9

In an ongoing effort to reach out to our neighbors in need, the members of Solor enjoyed
working together to make this garden a reality.  They lovingly prepared the soil, planted
the seeds, and tended the plants so that God would be glorified with a bountiful harvest of
fresh vegetables!  The produce from the garden was given to local families in need, as well
as other individuals within the community.

Instructions for the Garden of Your Daily Living

Come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses.

Plant three rows of peas:

Peas of mind
Peas of heart
Peas of soul

Plant four rows of squash:

Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness

Plant four rows of lettuce:

Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be patient
Lettuce really love one another

No garden is without turnips:

Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another

To conclude our garden, we must have thyme:

Thyme for each other
Thyme for family
Thyme for friends

Water freely with patience and cultivate with love.
There is much fruit in your garden because you reap what you sow.
